Medigap Plan M

Medigap Plan M follows the low premium policy making it a good option for people who can cover out-of-pocket health costs and seldom visit healthcare facilities.

It is almost similar to Medigap Plan D, except that it offers over 50% coverage for your Part A deductible. Even as a cost-sharing Medigap plan, its monthly premium charges are lower than other Medicare Supplement plans.

Medigap Plan M Coverage

Among the three cost-sharing plans that include Plan K and L, Plan M provides the most comprehensive coverage options.

Medicare Plan M coverage offers:

  • Part A hospital coinsurance costs for up to 365 days until the Medicare benefits end
  • Part A hospice care coinsurance and copayments
  • Part B coinsurance and copayments
  • Three pints of blood for transfusions or medical procedures
  • 50% of Part A deductible
  • 80% of foreign travel emergency costs

It is important to note that Plan M does not cover Part B’s deductible or excess charges.

It also offers no out-of-pocket limit, which means you have to pay any out-of-pocket costs that Original Medicare or Plan M does not cover.

Moreover, Medigap Plan M does not cover prescription drugs, or other extra benefits such as vision, dental, or hearing care services.

Is Medigap Plan M Right For You?

As all the Medicare supplement plans offer standardized benefits, Plan M also covers the same basic benefits regardless of the location or the insurance company selling it. Thus, we recommend choosing a plan that allows you to receive the best healthcare services in your budget.

This is why it is important to compare Plan M with other Medicare Supplement plans before deciding.
